“Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” Thomas Edison said this because he invented lots of things and they didn't always work the first time so it took some trial and error. If he would've given up he wouldn't of become the 10th-most prolific inventor in the world and have over 1000 patents submitted.
The great inventor Thomas Alva Edison was born on February 11, 1847. However, he was not always known as a great inventor or even as a smart child. When he was very young, he only went to school for a short amount of time because he was doing so poorly. His mother, a former teacher, decided to teach him from home, which also allowed him time to create things. Once he received

While working there, he was able to create his first invention and receive his first patent. This invention was a telegraph repeater that automatically relayed a message to a second line or in other words, the groundwork for electronic voting machines. He had literally thousands of different inventions which are all extraordinary.. The one he is most famous for is the light bulb. This invention took electricity and made the power source practical for homes and as a way to replace usage of gas in homes. Edison also did a lot of work with the telephone which allowed him to invent the phonograph in 1877. The phonograph is a device that can both record and reproduce sound. He later invented the kinetograph, or what is known today as a movie camera. With this device, he recorded the motion picture movie “The Great Train Robbery.” Edison also wanted to change the lives of children and as a result, invented the first talking doll which was an instant success among little girls. Edison also invented the first power plant, named Edison’s Pearl Street Power Station in 1882. He went on to design systems of power plants to lay the groundwork for supplying the nation with power. He also invented a device that would allow him to estimate the temperature of objects remotely in which he planned to estimate the …show more content…
The first came when he was a young man. He did this as a new inventor so that he could have a personal space to try out all of his current ideas as well as develop new technologies and inventions. He would go on in his career to open up as well as help open several labs. There are two labs in particular that stand out when reviewing Edison’s legacy. The first of these two is the lab that he opened in West Orange. One of the first orders of business of this lab was making a return to the phonograph to make improvements. The second lab that comes to mind is the one he opened in Menlo Park, M.J. This lab doubled as a machine shop which was vital in the creation of new
