Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison both wanted to power the world and it wasn’t as easy as a hamster generating electricity on a wheel. These two men were brilliant inventors and scientists of the late 1800’s. They were able to create a way, among other inventions, to distribute electricity to the common people called AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current) which led to a feud between the two scientists about who’s electrical systems would generate more power. Tesla and Edison play a big part in who we are today, and I honestly can’t imagine my life without electricity. How would I have internet, charge my iPod and talk to my friends. I would die! He has around 300 patents worldwide for his inventions. Some of Tesla's patents are not accounted for, and different kids of sources have discovered some that were hidden in the patent archives. His inventions and discoveries are Tesla coils, radars, radios, radio astronomy, remote controls, hydroelectric plants, resonant frequency, neon lighting, electric motors, and he made a huge number of advances in electrochemical engineering. He also continued and extended Alexander Graham Bell's research by creating a way for telephones to communicate wirelessly, so he's basically the reason why we have cell phones. He was also the first to discover signs of radiation poisoning due to X-Rays, but since Edison had a personal vendetta against him, his discoveries were deemed irrelevant, so in the long run Edison was responsible for a lot of unnecessary deaths. While Edison didn't really discover much, he basically set up an invention business and stole everyone's ideas. He had connections to powerful and influential people, like Henry Ford. Close to 100% of his inventions had commercial success. He employed some of the best and brightest people in the world and had multiple people working on a project at the same time.
