February 11, 1847, in Milan, Ohio, USA is the birth of one of the earth’s best inventors, Thomas Edison. Thomas Edison was a great inventor, in fact, he created many revolutionary products used in his time, and also used today. Along with many of his other inventions, he said that one of the reasons he made the lightbulb is so that someday, electricity will be so cheap, that only the rich will burn candles. Thomas made many more inventions, like the phonograph, the movie camera, the mimeograph and more. He is truly an inventor to remember.
Thomas Alva Edison was the last of the seven children that are in his family. Thomas was born from Samuel and Nancy Edison, who were born on August 16, 1804, in Digby, Nova Scotia (dad) and sometime between Jan. 4th 1808-Jan. 4th 1810 (mom). He lived in Milan for seven years after he was born but then moved to Port Huron. He lived with his siblings Samuel (brother), Eliza (sister), Harriett (sister), Marion (sister), William (brother) and Carlile (brother). He went to public school for 12 weeks, but after that, his teacher said he was too hyper and a bit difficult, so then he was homeschooled.
