“Live people ignore the strange and unusual. I myself, am strange and unusual.” A quote from Tim Burton which relates to him and his movies. Tim Burton has been influenced by Edgar Allan Poe, Roald Dahl, and Dr. Seuss. Burton majored in animation at Walt Disney Studios. He was an animator for almost a year before he went on his own. Burton has made many successful movies such as Big Fish, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and his remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Do not forget about his short film “Frankenweenie”. They became well known for their mysterious and creepy traits. In Big Fish, the older father tells these incredible fairy tales that mess with your mind. The main character in Edward Scissorhands has scissors for hands. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a strange animation that manipulates the effects. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has a disturbing backstory. “Frankenweenie” was one of his more prosperous short films even if it was weird. He applies this technique to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by using slow violin music that gets louder and faster as Charlie is opening the candy bar. This creates suspense and tension to see if he will get a golden ticket or not. In Edward Scissorhands, he sees a picture of Peg’s daughter Kim and falls in love with her. The purpose of them playing slow and sweet loving music is to make you happy and to feel the love he has for Kim.
