America, as a whole, is guilty of a few things with education. The system is guilty of not teaching our students the necessities to live after they complete high school or college, and letting students move on when really, they shouldn’t if they are not educationally ready to do so. Our leaders have been letting the US education system decline in front of our eyes and neglecting to realize just how much it’s been failing. They have been turning a blind eye to the issue and instead acting as though everything is under control. In reality it is not under control. It’s only getting worse due to the oversight of our leaders. First off, students need to make sure that they are educationally stable to move onto the next “part” of their educational …show more content…

Not every parent or guardian has the time to teach their child how to do said needed necessities. Parents and/or guardians aren’t home because they themselves work and have other things to complete. They usually aren’t home until rather late due to such things during the weekdays and by then have to still cook dinner or are too tired to deal with these assignments. Additionally Matthew Lynch had stated in his article called 10 Reasons the U.S. Education System Is Failing that “Time spent in the classroom is simply not enough for teachers to instruct every student, to teach them what they need to know.”(Lynch) Teachers don’t have a enough time to individually sit down and teach each student the way they would understand. With the education system we have right now this statement could not be more truthful. Given the fact from the previous statement of having many overcrowd classrooms making it difficult to teach and/or instruct every student. Now along with that is this fact by Matthew “But students from middle and upper class families aren't off the hook, either. The demands of careers and an over-dependence on schools put higher-class kids at risk too when it comes to the lack of parental involvement in academics.”(Lynch) So due to the lack of parental involvement it even puts higher-class kids at risk in failing when it comes to …show more content…

These facts help to provide a better insight on the situation “The U.S. Education Department reports that the high school graduation rate is at an all-time high at 80 percent. Four out of five students are successful in studies completion and graduate within four years. While these statistics sound like a reason for a standing ovation, they are overshadowed by the crisis that is sweeping the United States. While 80 percent of high school seniors receive a diploma, less than half of those are able to proficiently read or complete math problems.The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), the largest standardized test administered in the United States, reports that fewer than 40 percent of graduating seniors have mastered reading and math and are poorly equipped for college and real world life”(Lynch) It’s showing how they aren’t getting the education necessary to move on with their education and careers. The fact that graduating seniors cannot even proficiently read or do math is sad and shows why we our ranked 36th world wide when it comes to our US education
