I designed the books of 10 to keep things simple and retainable while still providing a lot of knowledge to the reader. Primarily these books are intended to provide Law Enforcement as well as Military members with knowledge, skills and/or abilities that will serve to better conduct their business. Whether its corrections, security, protection, patrol, investigations or another branch of L.E. our main mission is still relative, Protect the innocent. If you have not heard me say it before, it is important that you make this your business. Of course, this task is not conducted by the L.E. community itself, it relies heavily on Courts, Juries, Prosecutors, Law Makers, Community Leaders, Parole and Probation, Business Owners, Child services, Social Services and many other departments. These as well as other implied tasks of a Leader will never stop. • Remember that as a leader we don’t determine the outcome; the ones we lead do!!!! • Everyone team at times will need to be led, if the team is not doing this on its own, then be sure to step up if or when needed. Do so with dedication and drive. The motivation here, maybe lacking already since it needed an extra push to go. Pay attention to that and do not take the task lightly on this one. 4. Care, Be sympathetic and empathetic- • If you have never do it before or it’s been awhile, get familiar with or better yet work the actual duties of the positions that you oversee, write policy for, manage, supervise, lead, influence etc. this not only will help educate you and allow you to do your job more accurately but will it build the confidence, the trust, the bond that you have.
