To become a scientist and my strong admiration to utilize my chemistry knowledge, I have decided to pursue graduate studies. With my academic intellect, I want to make a compelling impact on the life of the individuals, as well. An instinctual enjoying towards science and passion towards technology, highly influenced me to be a researcher in the field of chemistry; especially in petroleum chemistry. Since one of the recognized and designated research intensive university among public and private institutes in Canada, University of Lethbridge seems the perfect choice for me. I believe that a center of excellence like University of Lethbridge can serve as a bridge between my aspiration, dream and my career goal. My primary interest is Petroleum …show more content…

My research objective was to find a route of cationic activity inside the channel of anions and here I have had practical exposure on solid state NMR, XRD, SEM and EDX. Meanwhile, my industrial training during my 3rd semester helped me a lot to learn about ISD deposition, PVD, SEM and in-situTEM. My master thesis is based on synthesis, characterization and development of WS2 catalyst with alumina support for the industrial production of methyl mercaptan. From this project I have come to learn about industrial catalyst development by studying their selectivity and catalyst activity, XRD, EDX, NMR, Raman spectroscopy and Gas chromatography in detail. This project was co-ordinated by Evonik Germany along with the research group of Professor Dr. Johannes Lercher, Technical Chemistry chair, Technical University …show more content…

Besides the rapid growth of petrochemical industries and the increasing use of petroleum products as well as by-products in the field of agriculture, plastics, pharmaceuticals and as a source of energy; tremendously helped me to set up my mind to be a petroleum chemist in the near future. Most significantly, Petroleum Chemistry is getting much more interest to the research scientists due to recent technical innovations and enrichment in the field of petroleum industry. Newly added instrumental strategies have without a doubt included penetrative chemical estimations. The processes used for the estimation of the compounds require high sophistication and skill. Over the past three years I am introduced to different topics of Chemistry. I have spent a good deal of time learning various chemical methodologies like Solid and solution state NMR, solvent extraction, ion exchange, chromatography and also I am familiar with the basic principles-spectroscopy (UV, Visible, IR), gas analysis. I also did analytical work on organic compounds, i.e. elemental analysis, functional group analysis, and Li/ion battery research as a part of my practical assignment. Moreover the study of petroleum products such as bituminous
