Mission & Vision. The Oho Christian University Mission Statements states, “Oho Christian University prepares students to serve effectively in the church and society by providing a holistic, Christ-centered, biblically integrated education in the Wesleyan tradition (“OCU”, 2017).” Although, the mission statement is a wonderful goal, as a prospective student it may be difficult to understand and digest the meaning until they become a student. The OCU vision is to prepare Christian servant leaders that will impact the world in a meaningful way (“OCU”, 2017).
Arizona Christian University (ACU) is a private 4-year institution that is devoted to creating leaders who can produce an impact on the world with the gospel (God’s word). Len Munsil, the President of ACU and author of the book “Transforming Culture with Truth”, mentions in his book that “we have forgotten who we are.” (Munsil 2) Which leads to the question, who are we supposed to be? ACU’s mission is “to provide a biblically integrated education that prepares its graduates to serve the Lord Jesus Christ in ministries and professional occupations.” (Munsil 50)
Established in 1909 in Ada, Oklahoma, East Central University is a public institute that is dedicated to offer an excellent instruction, research and other forms of academic activities and community services to all students. Within East Central University mission statement, “The Department of Athletics will be an integral part of the institution and its education programs. The Department of Athletics will develop a comprehensive program of gender balanced sports programs, operating in compliance with NCAA regulations and enjoying success at the Division II level while maintaining the best interests of the student-athlete and the academic integrity of the institution. Evaluate how ASU is positioning itself through its vision and mission. The ASU’s vision and mission statement are a very powerful. These two statements positioning ASU as a public research university that use a student-centric model to support innovation and creativity. ASU’s vision is to lead their people to be success in life and understanding the value of the community.
Washington State University is located in Pullman, Washington, approximately 1,766.8 miles from Webb City, Missouri. The mission statement, as found on the web page of WSU is “to provide an impartial, neutral and confidential process that facilitates fair and equitable resolutions to concerns that arise within the university.” Washington State University is an amazing school devoted to the education of the nation's finest students. There are many things that set this school apart from others such as location, majors and minors, requirements, tuition, and scholarships and grants.
“Preparing people to lead extraordinary lives.” (“Mission & Identity: Loyola University Chicago,” 2016, para. 3). This is the promise of Loyola University Chicago (LUC), a four-year, private non-for-profit Jesuit institution (“Carnegie Classifications,” 2015). Loyola was founded in 1870 as St. Ignatius College and is one of the largest Jesuit colleges in the United States (“Key Facts at a Glance: Loyola University Chicago,” 2016). In the 2015-2016 academic school year, Loyola enrolled over 16,000 students (“Key Facts at a Glance: Loyola University Chicago,” 2016).
BACKGROUND Knowing the background of the job of interest not only provides an upper hand but an idea of what type of atmosphere it has been throughout the years. Knowing the history, key individuals, purpose statement and values, and mission statements can sometimes persuade applicants to apply for a job with the institution. Encountering this information has become much easier with the use of the internet and search engines. History “Texas A&M University and Prairie View A&M University were first founded as land-grant colleges in 1876,” years later the A&M system was established in 1948 by the Texas Legislature.
UNCW uses pathos to present their commitment to student’s learning and the environment on campus. By using an emotional appeal to the students, UNCW creates the written text equivalent of a hug, welcoming you to join their community. Logos is presented as “responsible citizenship expressed in our baccalaureate and masters' programs, as well as doctoral programs in areas of expertise that serve state needs.” These all apply to the list of services UNCW provides that might be logical for students to enroll in the college. In the publication by James Rajasekar, it states that a mission statement acts as an internal communication tool that conveys an organization’s policies, procedures, plans, and strategies, thereby guiding the behaviors and decisions of organization and
University of Tennessee Introduction According to the University of Tennessee’s mission statement, the university is to move forward the frontiers of human knowledge and enrich and evaluate the citizens of the state of Tennessee, the nation, and the world (2015). The University of Tennessee is research-based, land grant university found in Knoxville, Tennessee. Based on the Carnegie Classification, the University of Tennessee is a research university. Most undergraduates are full-time and transfer rates are low.
Morgan State University’s Student Regent has the power to implement powerful initiatives that uphold the university’s core values and prepares graduates to become the next world leaders. Therefore, it is imperative that the Student Regent familiarizes themselves with the goals of the university and has a strategy to create positive changes. The mission of Student Regent is to serve as the student liaison between the Board of Regents, the Student Government Association, and the student body. As Student Regent, I will commit myself to upholding the vision/mission of the university and constantly strive to reach the goals of the university.
The Franklin College mission statement states, “A Franklin College education fosters independent thinking, innovation, leadership and action for ever-changing professions and a globally connected world.” I believe in my first semester here at Franklin College, the mission statement has been well implemented into my curriculum. I can think back on numerous occasions while in class many of my professors would give us critical thinking on how we, as an individual, see the world which coincides with the independent thinking aspect of the mission statement. I also believe the vision statement also plays a role in the overall mission statement of Franklin College.
The mission for the Johnston Community College (JCC) Child Development Center is to produce an early childhood education that would meet the needs of the families whom are being served, by providing a nurturing environment for children to learn and grow. They believe in training teachers to work with young children in loving respectful ways, that would enrich their environment. The goal is to provide young children with the best care possible, and to aid the Early Education Students in becoming the next generation of Early Education Professionals. Johnston Community College Child Development Center was established in 1998. It is an extension of the Early Childhood Education department.
Mawuli Bossiade Essay 1 Senior Capstone The Mission of the University of Charleston is to educate each student for a life of productive work, enlightened living, and community involvement (University of charleston). The University of Charleston goal is to make sure student enhance their knowledge in order to contribute to the society they are living in. The mission statement has three major points, which are productive work, enlightened living and community involvement. They prepare the student to live in a changing society by developing the knowledge and abilities to be a lifelong learner (University of charleston). As a student from Charleston we have to complete the Liberal Learning Outcomes (LLOs) before we can graduate.
I have worked so hard in school waiting for a moment like this. UNCW would be a great challenge for me, but it would also help me out immensely. UNCW has a excellent education program and that is exactly the field of study I aim to go into. I spent approximately half of my sophomore year at the early college tutoring at Dobson Elementary. I cherished every second helping my fifth grade class.
Arizona Christian University, founded by Len Munsil, is devoted to teaching students about Christ so that they may go out into the world and “transform culture with truth.” Faith, one of the categories from the acronym F.I.R.E. is integrated the most with ACU and the vision and mission for the school. ACU strives to equip students with bible knowledge through a common education so that they may serve the Lord through future endeavors related to employment and spiritual leadership. Faith is profoundly incorporated into the mission and vision of ACU and is of the highest significance in any Christian’s life.
