Vanderbilt University Medical Center is in Nashville Tennessee. It is comprised of multiple separate facilities from the main Hospital and before 2016 also included Vanderbilt University. After April 2016 Vanderbilt University Medical Center became a separate entity from the undergraduate and graduate University. It is a non-for-profit Hospital that does not have a religious affiliation. However, their mission statement still reads like that of an Academic center and a religiously based care center. Academic mission statement perspective, “At Vanderbilt University Medical Center, discovery science is revealing new insights into the major diseases and conditions of our time. We are determined to push forward into unknown frontiers. These new discoveries can help us relieve suffering, improve health and make the lives of our patients better.”(Vanderbilt Health, n.d.) More recently the hospital was ranked by US News in the top 100 nationally in 7 different adult specialties, 10 children’s specialties, and received top scores in 9 different procedures or conditions treatments. This includes top 20 in the fields of Gynecology, Nephrology, and Urology for adults. For Children’s specialties this includes top 20 in the fields of Neonatology, cancer, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology. (Adult Specialties, & Children's Specialties, n.d.)
