Friar Laurence and Mercutio are to blame because when Mercutio was killed, Romeo avenged him. Once Romeo killed Mercutio’s killer, Tybalt, he was banned by Prince Escalus. Friar Laurence is also to blame for many reasons, one of those reasons being that he married the two thinking that it would end the feud and not their lives. One of the other reasons is that he married Romeo and Juliet too quickly, and did not think of the outcome besides ending the feud. Mercutio is to blame not for only getting Romeo banned but also for Romeo meeting Juliet.

He had given Juliet, who was begging for help, a small vial containing the liquid that would fake Juliet’s death. When the time had come, he depended too much on Friar John, and Romeo received the wrong news. Romeo had thought that Juliet was dead and went back to Verona with a bottle of poison to kill himself. Quickly, Friar Lawrence ran to stop him, only to find Romeo dead and Juliet waking up.
In the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, many people could be blamed for the multiple deaths, but one man was extremely careless.. Many people believe that Romeo is to blame because of his ignorance and pride. Others blame Juliet for the tragedy because she was secretive and headstrong. And most people blame the parents of Romeo and Juliet for their ignorance and pride when it came to their children. From my first thoughts, Friar Laurence is looked upon as a respectable, and trustworthy man. We, as the readers, know that he does not have these qualities. Friar Laurence is to blame because he pushed Romeo and Juliet to get married, he was unable to get the letter to Romeo on time, and he gave Juliet a potion that put her to sleep for 42 hours. Doing that tricked everyone into thinking she was dead.

If it weren’t for the Friar and his plan for the two star-crossed lovers to fake their death and run away, they would’ve lived longer. Although the teenagers were secretly dating, the Friar insisted on marrying them and creating a plan that would allow them to live happily ever after, except the plan wasn’t fool-proof.
