Romeo was in love with Rosaline but then he went to a party of the Capulets. Romeo wasn’t invited to this party but Romeo went anyways. When Romeo got to the party he saw Juliet the daughter of the Capulets and Romeo fell in love with her at the first sight. Romeo was in love with Rosaline but as soon as he seen Juliet his feelings changed very quick and shows he falls in love too fast and easily. Romeo is quick to falling in love too fast and because of that it is one of the reasons Romeo and Juliet are dead.
When Romeo first encounters Juliet at the Capulet’s party at the beginning of the play, this is first made clear. Romeo appears to have completely forgotten about Rosaline and becomes instantly infatuated with Juliet. Romeo and Juliet soon run into each other at Juliet’s balcony after their first previous encounter. After a brief conversation, Juliet proposes the idea of marriage "If that thy bent of love be honorable, / Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow.
Counterclaim Some people may say that their love was too quick, and was caused because of their hormones. In the play Romeo says, “Thus from my lips, by thine my sin is purged” (Shakespeare 1.v.107). This quote shows how Romeo wasnt thinking about all of the consequences that would happen if he were to kiss her. He wanted to know if Juliet wanted him back, because had already gone through a sad time when Rosaline rejected him, and he didn’t want to go through the pain
As Friar Laurence tells Romeo, "Wisely and slow; they stumble that run fast" (II.III.81-94). This advice applies not only to their actions but also to their emotions, suggesting that true love requires time and thoughtfulness. In the case of Romeo and Juliet, their love was based on passion rather than a deeper connection, and ultimately led to their tragic
William Shakespeare’s tragedy Romeo and Juliet is focused on the lives of two “star-crossed” lovers, Romeo of the Montagues and Juliet of the Capulets. Both families are of the same dignity or social status. However, there is great tension between these two families for reasons that are not specified by Shakespeare. In the beginning of the play, Romeo loves a woman named Rosaline and Juliet does not seem to be interested in dating. The readers understand that at some point in the play they will meet and fall in love due to the title Romeo and Juliet, not Romeo and Rosaline or Juliet.
When the play start we see that Romeo is already in love with Rosaline, before he sees the love of his life and gives his heart to Juliet. However in Romeo the love for Rosaline stand for the dream life, yet undisturbed, the apostasy to emotion for emotion's sake. Romeo care for his love, he sheds tears, he cultivates solitude, and he let out his cry in the hearing of the comfortable monk, yet he stimulates his beautified with the sought out phrases. After he meet Juliet he forgot that he was in love with Rosaline. However Juliet is a current force beyond and above himself, a real fact of the world.
Romeo met Juliet and marries her in less than twenty-four hours. Despite having many young girls in Verona, Romeo became miserable, when he found out that Rosaline did not love him back. When Benvolio was wondering why Romeo was looking so gloomy, he went up to him and ask him what is wrong. Romeo stated that he is in love with a girl, that does not love him back. Romeo describes Rosaline with many metaphors and similes.
Throughout the play, Romeo is recovering from his unrequited love and during the Capulet party, he “ne’er saw beauty till this night”(1.5 50-51). This piece of evidence indicates that Romeo had never seen such a beautiful girl until that night. This portrayed love by how it affected Romeo’s actions by causing him to kiss and bond with Juliet. Eventually, this stirred conflict between the Montague and Capulet. During the marriage of Romeo and Juliet, the Friar insists that they “shall not stay alone” until the church “incorporate the two in one”(2.6 35-37).
After Romeo has met Juliet, he says, “With Rosaline, my ghostly father? No. I have forgot that name, and that name’s woe” Act two, scene three, line 48). This begs the question: Was Romeo truly in love, or did he just find Juliet attractive, like many teens? Convinced that they were in love with each other, these two teens meet again at night and pledge their love, deciding that they will be married the next morning.
Romeo and Juliet is widely known for it’s tragic story of two star crossed lovers dying for their love, but were Romeo and Juliet ever truly in love? I believe that although the two youngsters had some kind of spark between each other they were ultimately not in love. In Act 1, scene 5 Romeo see’s Juliet for the first time and instantly claims his love for even though in the previous scene he ranted on about how grief-stricken he was that Rosaline didn’t return his love. Romeo went to the Capulet’s party just so he can see Rosaline, then sees Juliet—a girl he didn’t even know existed five minutes ago—and immediately falls in love with her.
Of course, their acts of love didn’t last long, as they soon found out from Nurse that they are from opposite sides of two families that hold a strong grudge. But even though their love is forbidden, the two still wish to see each other. In the second act, Juliet talks to herself as if she were with Romeo, asking him to deny his lineage and her to do the same so they may be together. She says, “Tis but thy name that is thy enemy./ Thou art thyself, though not a Montague./ […] So Romeo would, were he not Romeo called,/ Retain that dear perfection which he owes/ Without that title.
Romeo changes his mind about him loving Rosaline as soon he sees Juliet and then decides he loves Juliet instead. Romeo and Juliet are in “love” with each other because of how they look through their eyes and not with their hearts. During the prologue for Act 2 the chorus says, “Now Romeo is beloved and loves again, Alike bewitched by the charm of looks”(Act 2, Prologue). This shows that Romeo and Juliet fall in love with each other because of the way they see each other on the outside and not what is on the inside. This is said by the chorus so it seems that William Shakespeare somewhat meant for people to question whether Romeo and Juliet are actually in love or
William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy about two young lovers wanting to be together. Due to the two families feuding, this relationship was not allowed. Their love for eachother was so strong that they were willing to die to be with each other. Although some believe that Romeo and Joliet were infatuated with one another, they were actually in love. The most compelling evidence of their love was that they couldn’t stop thinking about each other which caused irrational actions.
From the moment he sees her at the Capulet party, Romeo immediately falls in love with Juliet. They both fall head over heels for each other as the night progresses. During their time together, they completely put all things aside and forget everything about the world except for their love for one another. Most people seem to think this way about the romance between Romeo and Juliet, but in reality, they aren’t actually truly in love. Romeo and Juliet are not in love with each other because just a day before they met, he felt heartbroken because of a girl named Rosaline who didn 't love him, he pressures Juliet to profess her love to him, and after just barely meeting, they both agree to get married.
Alan Watts once said, “Never pretend to a love which you do not actually feel, for love is not ours to command.” (brainyquotes.com). Watts is saying that we can 't just say that we love someone, we have to feel our heart swell with the love we have for that person. In William Shakespeare 's, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet are not truly in love because they automatically fell in love after seeing each other once, they decide to get married a few hours after they meet and they are too immature to actually know what love is . One reason Romeo and Juliet are not truly in love is that they fell in love right after they meet (lust at first sight).
