When most people think of great U.S. presidents the first to come to mind is usually Theodore Roosevelt. He was remembered as knowledgeable, honest, strict, and unwavering in his policies. Most important in the minds of most people is the time when Roosevelt divided substantial monopolies into minor separate companies. Unfortunately, not everything that Roosevelt achieved reached its goal. The opposite can be said of Woodrow Wilson who has been seen as one of the worst presidents, especially by people like Ben Shapiro.
The most successful progressive president was Theodore Roosevelt since he really utilized the power of the federal government; he was able to improve health conditions for the AMerican public; on top of that he was able to improve the environmental conditions for AMerica. Roosevelt was able to use his power as president and head of the federal government by organizing peaceful negotiations with coal miners and their supervisors in the coal strike of 1902. In the coal strike of 1902, the miners went on protest demanding a 20% raise and a nine hour work day. Both presidents personified reform and success, but Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the only president during his presidency. During that time, he embraced reform and success wholeheartedly. Throughout the Progressive Era the United States had three different Presidents. Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and William Howard Taft. They all had one thing in common, they fought for progressive reforms. But one fought more than the rest. President Theodore Roosevelt time and time again pushed and fought for progressive reforms.
Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson played important roles and had huge impacts during the Progressive Era that formulated our nation today. Roosevelt had a big contribution to the economical matter as well as conservation issues. He cared about giving the people what they deserved and tried to save the national parks from destruction by industries. He fought big corporations and corruption in an attempt to help the common man. He disliked the power of the trusts and also created Square Deal policies to regulate the power of labor and offer people improve their lives.
Wilson took down trust left and right and passed the Underwood Tariff which lowered taxes for the first time since the Civil War. He helped pass the 19th amendment which allowed for women to vote and created the FCC, federal trade commission, and the Clayton Antitrust Act of 1914. All three of these presidents help immensely with the Progressive
The Progressive Era was a period full of political reform and social activism. One major characteristic of this era was the call for higher efficiency in government. Reformers attacked inefficiency in government, which led to the government reorganizing agencies to eliminate redundancy. This era was also marked by a graduated federal income tax, a new national banking system and a governmental attempt to conserve natural resources. During the Progressive Era, there was a large call for social reform including: prohibition, the right to vote for women, child labor laws and an eight hour work day.

Determination is what carried Roosevelt to produce all his history-altering decisions. Many of the things he did were for humanitarian efforts. The Meat Inspection Act made food conditions better for consumers and was one of the examples of trust busting, which broke monopolies to give equal chances. It showed his trust in his independency as he was one of few who was convinced to pass the law, but he could persuade others to see his way. The national parks he created were made because, although he hunted as a sport, he saw that nature needed to be cultivated for future generations.
Question 1. The progressive period in US history started in the 1890s and remained current through the 1920s. Progressive leaders in the US include President Teddy Roosevelt, President William Howard Taft, and President Woodrow Willson. The main objective of progressives was to rid the government of corruption. These progressive leaders targeted political machines and worked to rid the country of monopolistic enterprises that were exploiting regular citizens.
The Progressive Era, from 1900-1917, was a time when problems were solved, tactics were used to solve them, and foundations were laid for future reforms. During this time, steps and precautions were laid that regulated business, rights, government, and life as we know it. A major goal of this time was the exploitation of the corrupt aspects of the government. After the goals and reforms were met during this time, America became better and better in the eyes of reform groups and activists.
In the late 1800s through early 1900s was the time period of the “Progresive Era”. It was an era that invoved alot of political refom and social activism. It’s main goal though was to eliminate corruption in the government. During this time period there were three president’s referred to as the “Progressive Presidents”. They were president Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and Woodrow Wilson.
During the Progressive Movement we had 3 presidents, Teddy Roosevelt, William Taft, and Woodrow Wilson. Each of these presidents had some very good reforms that have made this country be how it is today. All of these things that presidents have done tie in with a goal of the Progressive Movement, there were 4 goals. One- Social Welfare, Two- Economic Reform, Three- Moral Improvement, and Four- Fostering Efficiency. These goals were accomplished in many ways.
During the Progressive Era, progressives called for reforms in many aspects of life, and the political reform was one of them. Progressives assumed the political needed fixing because the political parties used the old political machines to run their elections and control the whole process of those. In addition, the reformers claimed that a reform would help pass and exercise good laws, while get rid of the outdated ones. Therefore, the progressives initiated the political reforms. In responded to the pressure from the public, the state legislatures required the political parties to use a direct primary to choose the person who was getting elected.
