Animal testing has been a controversial topic over the years. Animal testing (also known as animal experimentation) is experiments used with animals for research purposes. Some people think animal testing help benefit scientists and advances medical/scientific research. Others believe that the pain and suffering that animals go through during these experiments isn’t worth it. The EBSCO article “Animal Testing” by explains what animal testing is and the discussion regarding animal testing. The purpose of the article is to educate readers on animal testing and why it’s controversial. The author explains that animal testing is for research and testing the safety of the product for consumers. The article provides a picture of a guinea pig getting an injection. The author’s purpose is to inform the reader why animal testing is beneficial and controversial. The article provides examples of medical advances like “the development of antibiotics, vaccines, and surgical techniques… Animal testing provides great benefits to people.” (Flecknell 1). The article explains that animal testing has made scientists make progress in their research and “methods that do not include animals are not always adequate.” (Flecknell 7). The article uses reasoned judgements, explanations, examples and facts. Compared to the other articles, this is the only article that doesn't use any pictures and is slightly pro towards animal
