A article I recently read from them focuses on providing information about alternatives to animal testing. The author agrees that in some cases animals are the best models, but also makes it apparent that with the advancement in technology they are plenty of inventions that could produce better models than animals. They provide detailed explanations about several modern methods like the human cell-based in vitro, which include sophisticated tests using human cells and tissues, advanced computer-modeling techniques a.k.a silico models, and studies with human volunteers (PETA). With these methods they test drugs, chemicals, and cosmetics instead of “pumping substances into animals' stomachs and lungs and dripping chemicals into animals' eyes or onto their raw, shaved skin.” Also, the use of computers to display the human-brain would replace “cutting into and damaging the brains of rats, cats, and monkeys.” PETA and its affiliates fund the development of many of these non-animal methods, vigorously promote their use to governments and companies around the world, and publish research on their superiority to traditional animal
