I think that cloning in general has both good and bad qualities, but at this time there are not enough benefits to make it a marketable process. There are multiple types of artificial cloning: gene cloning, reproductive cloning, and therapeutic cloning (https://www.genome.gov/25020028/cloning-fact-sheet/). Gene cloning, also known as DNA cloning, creates copies of genes or segments of DNA. This may be used to genetically modify plants or animals. Reproductive cloning and therapeutic cloning have very similar processes, but the end results are different. Reproductive cloning copies somatic cells to create copies of whole animals. Therapeutic cloning is intended to produce embryonic stem cells that would be intended to create tissue that would be used to fix injuries or replace diseased tissue. The same website used above gives the benefits and pitfalls to these types of cloning. Reproductive cloning could save endangered species, or possibly bring back species that have gone extinct. It also may be used to create more animals that possess a wanted quality. For example, one cow that has been cloned produces milk that holds a protein essential to humans for blood clotting. The hope is to extract the protein from the milk and inject it into humans …show more content…

While there has been no evidence of human cloning due to the complexities that come with cloning primates, some researchers and even religious groups have claimed to have cloned human life. I think if there is allegations of clones that have not been documented, serious investigations should be done, along with possible fines for false information. There are so many pitfalls to creating clones that not everyone should have the power. Due to the ethical issues of creating human life using cloning and the risks involved, reproductive cloning is illegal in the United States
