The three presidents that served during the progressive era were able to progress the nation but the one that did the most was Roosevelt this is because of the reforms with big businesses and how Teddy tried to stop the forming of monopolies. The workers union was also benefited by The Presidents reforms which made many feel more safe and sable at the workplace. Lastly, Roosevelt was a big supporter of conservatism and based many of the acts that were passed on these beliefs. Therefore because of all of the efforts put into progressing the country evidence points to Roosevelt being the most progressive president. During the 1900s many big businesses had started to get too much power which allowed them to affect the economy.
Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft and Woodrow Wilson were considered the Progressive Presidents. Roosevelt was placed into office after the assassination of McKinley in 1901, Taft was elected in 1908, and Wilson was elected in 1912. Wilson was only the second Democratic president to be elected in 50 years. Roosevelt was young, energetic, and a bit impulsive; this was in sharp contrast to the easy going, stand back approach of Taft. Wilson was very intelligent and gave much thought and consideration to each step he made.
In the 1912 election, three candidates ran for president. Those being, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and Woodrow Wilson. All three of these men wanted progressivism which is gradual changes in the social aspect of society. But, the candidates differed in the ways that were progressive, and ways that were not progressive. The candidate that was the most progressive all around was Theodore roosevelt.
The Progressive Movement promoted government regulation of commerce, as well as reforms in areas like education, healthcare, and labor rights in an effort to alleviate the social and economic issues brought on by these changes. With Theodore Roosevelt becoming the first progressive president and
Presidents Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover all served as presidents during 1901 and 1939, none of which were Progressives and therefore did not influence anything with those views. In addition, the Progressive movement did not benefit everyone in America, nor was it completely successful. The Progressive movement was successful in many ways such as granting women the right to vote in 1920 by passing the 19th amendment as well as banning child labor, increasing civilian participation in politics, and breaking up trusts, but it failed to reform large parts of the population like African Americans and Native Americans. In addition to the lack of Civil Rights Reform, Progressive movements like prohibition were major failures. Not only was the 18th amendment repealed, but it started the rise of organized crime.
The progressive movement was put in place to help restore economic opportunities and correct injustices in America. The four goals of this movement were protecting social welfare, promoting moral improvement, creating economic reform, and fostering efficiency. Protecting social welfare included looking out for those in need and pretty much made sure that anyone struggling was provided with the necessities to help better their lives. Promoting moral improvement involved providing everyone with a positive look on their lives in America. To make this possible America felt it was necessary to implement what was called prohibition.
Throughout the Progressive Era the United States had three different Presidents. Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and William Howard Taft. They all had one thing in common, they fought for progressive reforms. But one fought more than the rest. President Theodore Roosevelt time and time again pushed and fought for progressive reforms.
“The Progressive movement of 1901 to 1971 was a triumph of conservatism rather than a victory for liberalism,” is a false statement implying that the Progressive movement was not liberal win when it very much was. The progressive movement allowed for all types of government reforms and policies that are all very liberal in a sense. With the Progressives, the laissez-faire government that allowed for many businesses to run free will no longer exist and regulations of all kinds of business will be put into place. The three presidents to reside in the White House during this era, Theodore Roosevelt, William H. Taft, and Woodrow Wilson, all shared at least one point of view with liberals. The progressive era is the era of the liberals.
The progressive reform that had the greatest impact on American society was the 18th Amendment which made the producing, transporting, or selling of alcohol prohibited. It all began when the Anti-Saloon party gained an advantage during World War I. Women who began these reforms gained support because of their influence on the workforce. If the women had not helped by working men’s jobs during the war, it would not have been as easy. Another aspect of the war that contributed to the amendment's publication was the limited resources available. Since alcohol was made of food sources, many saw it as a waste of food supply that could have been used for “our boys at war”.
There was many successes and failures during the Progressive Era, however to me the most important success was the women suffrage and the biggest failure was child labor. Women suffrage was a success because it allowed women to vote. For instance, women were not listen to during this time this in fact anger the women. However, after fighting for so long woman could vote and give their opinion. Women suffrage was also a success because ever since then women have become consider to making decisions such as choosing the next president.

The main objective of progressives was to rid the government of corruption. These progressive leaders targeted political machines and worked to rid the country of monopolistic enterprises that were exploiting regular citizens.
During the progressive era, progressive reforms were mixes of successes in the area of urban life. Reformers believed that urbanization was the root to many social problems, so they worked to fix them. Some of their reforms worked well, whereas others did not. They worked hard to improve conditions in the cities after seeing the poverty, filth, and crime that occurred mostly between 1890 to 1920. Progressives were mostly successful in reforming urban living conditions.
The Progressive Era was a time period, in the United States, of reforms that created to better the conditions that people lived in. There were many things that happened which were Populism, Social Gospel, and Progressivism. The best accomplishment of the era was the Social Gospel, led by the Protestant Clergy, because they created social reforms for working conditions, housing conditions, and civil rights were granted. The working conditions were poor with long hour days, no work breaks to take a break or eat.
The Progressive Movement lasted from the late 19th century through the first twenty years of the 20th century. There were economical, political, and cultural problems during this time period, and Progressives worked to improve them. The movement sought to restore economic opportunities, and to improve the lack of fairness and justice in American life. Progressives wanted to preserve capitalism, improve working conditions, and achieve better governmental rule.
Progressives In the time from 1880 to 1937, many changes were taking place in America. The United States has come out of the Civil War and rebuilt, including many changes to how the US had looked and operated before the war. The United States was greatly impacted by the development of progressivism and its influence on all major politics at this time. Though progressive ideas split the country in some political aspects, they helped to better the nation and would be even more beneficial in later global economic situations. One of the most well known presidents for his progressive ideals, Theodore Roosevelt, acted on his progressive beliefs in a way that allowed the US to grow into the global power it has become.
