World War II (WWII) is among the most memorable wars in world history. The first major cause of the second world war began after the Treaty of Versailles when Germany was forced to pay reparations after being accused of the “War guilt clause”. The Germans were also not happy, that their territories were given away to the allied countries. The second major cause of WWII began in the “Roaring Twenties”. The Weimar government printed fake money to support their countries financial problems. Soon the bank overflowed with fake money. This was known as Hyperinflation. Above all, the New York stock exchange collapsed, many people became unemployed and therefore bankrupt. All this lead to the second major cause of WWII. The Great Depression. Fascists are also anti-democratic and strong authoritarians. Fascist dictator’s such as Benito Mussolini enforced this using Totalitarianism. A Totalitarian works for a government which uses its authority to control all aspects of public and private life of the people. Similar to Fascism is Nazism. Nazism, are the beliefs and concepts of the Nazi Party. Also known as the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, who were created and conducted by Adolf Hitler. Both ideologies are anti-democratic and reject communists. However, Fascism focuses on making their state powerful as opposed to Nazism, which is based almost completely on racism. In the early 1920’s, Italian dictator Benito Mussolini and his party became the most dominate fascist party at the time. The name of his party came from the Latin word fasces. Which was a symbol of disciplinary during ancient Rome. In the early 1930’s, Adolf Hitler rose to power and became the Chancellor of Germany. When Hitler came to power, The Great Depression was still amongst the German community. Appeasement was a policy, in which a country or state had to agree to the demands of a superior country or nation, in order to prevent conflict. This policy was put into place, after the failure of The League of Nations. The League of Nations was created by the Allies to achieve peace between nations. However, The League didn’t achieve this goal, as there were many events in which The League did not provide protection or assistance to nations in need. By early 1930’s, The League still wasn’t achieving their main goal. The League was falling apart. The Allies needed a new way to pleasure Germany. In 1938, the Allies introduced the Appeasement policy. In the middle of September 1938, Hitler wanted Czechoslovakia, as a large part of Czech was placed in the Sudetenland, on the border of Germany. On September the 15th, the prime minister of Britain, Neville Chamberlain, met with Hitler and without Czech knowing, allowed Germany 50 percent of the population. Britain later persuaded France to agree. Hitler disapproved the agreement and demanded all the Sudetenland. On the 30th of September, Britain and France agreed and gave Hitler the Sudetenland. After signing the ‘Pact of Steel’ (Goldberg, Pact of Steel, https://www.britannica.com/event/Pact-of-Steel) on the 22nd of May 1939, Germany and Italy were now in alliance.
