Hope, what does hope to mean to you. To me, hope means that we have set an expectation and we expect ourselves and those around us to achieve that expectation. Hope is the reason that this whole book was written. Sean Covey wrote this book to give us hope so that we would be able to change our lives. First, we must start with ourselves, and then we can focus on others. When we start to focus on others, we must start listening and understanding them. I really enjoyed this book, and it has given me ideas on how I can better myself and those around me. I picked some of my favorite points from the book and decided to elaborate on them in this essay. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Life's most urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” The point of the Relationship Bank Account is to help you build trust in those that you meet. There are a lot of things that you can do to make deposits into your RBA. Personally, I like to keep my promises to all my friends, even when it is hard. I do random acts of kindness for people I know are having a rough day, even if it is just a friendly smile to someone I pass in the hallway. I try to be loyal and listen to what my friends have to say. I know in my life, I struggle when it comes to the relationships with my family the most. It is easy to treat them poorly because I am around them constantly. As I read this book, I realized that I needed to start making a bigger effort to strengthen my relationships with my family. I can’t sit around and wait for them to mend themselves, or for them to start making changes. I am the one that needs to start making the difference, and hopefully, I will start to rub off on my family members. We are always building relationships with people whether we realize it or not, so we might as well learn how to make a good impression on someone and keep up the relationships that we are already in. Even if it is small changes, like smiling at the people you pass on the street, or making a conscious effort to ask how your moms day went while you were at school.
