I would love to start a safe house for unwed pregnant girls with a program that enables them to finish school and obtain life skills. I believe that this degree will help me to accomplish the business side of my dream. I recently visited a safe house for sex trafficking victims and I am in the process of partnering with them so I can be mentored by the directors. I am learning the love side of having a safe house as well. I am absolutely loving the opportunity to work in a college setting and many doors are being opened for me for my future.
The career that fascinates me and what I plan to be when Im older, is a Dental Hygienist. A dental hygienist is a stressful job, but it helps a lot of people. You are helping people get better teeth and even look better, because when people have straight pretty teeth, they seem to have an upgrade in their looks. I haven’t always wanted to be a dental hygienist, I had many other career choices. But, something about making people smile when I’m the reason they look good doing it makes me happy.
Democracy is one of the words James Henslin (2014, p.51) lists among the ten core values of the United States that sociologist Robin Williams identified. In the description of this value, he discusses how it refers primarily to majority rule. However, does the majority actually rule, or has American democracy sold out to capitalistic America? Through application of the conflict perspective, an apparent relationship is made between a select group of those who own the means of production and the mass of those who don’t, where those who do own this means exploit their power for personal gain and shift American democracy to oligarchy.

Since I was a child I have been asked what I want to do when I grew up. Truth was I never really knew. What I wanted changed over time from working with computers, to be an engineer. The only real constant that I had was wanting to help others. Despite the change in what I wanted to pursue the fact never changed that I wanted to do was help people.
I began college as a freshman at Central Michigan University thinking I was going to become an elementary teacher. I knew I wanted to make an impact on peoples lives but after my first week of classes, I remember telling myself becoming a teacher is not how I wanted to do it. I went to my counselor and added a social work course to my schedule. I had finally found courses I enjoyed taking and academically excelled in. Which brings me to where I am now, pursuing my degree in social work.

There were several complications down the road, in which I could no longer pursue that career choice.
