I learn methodology about setting appropriate learning goals, structuring online lectures, design automatically and peer-graded assessment and facilitating (massive) online learning communities. Coursera teaching requires an instructor to rethink the design of the course and students’ learning experiences since teaching strategies in other contexts won’t be totally suitable the one in MOOC. Students’ expectation on Coursera differs from the one in traditional learning environment. I also narrow my master paper topic from “Product Design: Massive Opening Online Learning (MOOL) Platform that realizes customized learning” to “The relationship between UX (User Experience Design) and personalized learning/completion rate on Coursera”. What MOOCs experience bring learners mostly valuable and distinct are more choices and opportunities about how, when and what they study, but not necessarily to the detriment of existing providers. The chapter of Impact on Teaching and Learning in institutions presents a case, how Blackboard, Desire2learn, and Moodle to offer MOOCs with Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). The “learner’s choice “idea raises my mind in whether constantly tracking and tailoring to learner’s choice and need can enhance use experience, and thus improving completion rate. Offering MOOCs with VLE also inspires me that technologies can improve user experience and engagement in MOOCs. However, considering the current business model of current MOOCs, the costs are huge.
