Throughout Rosemary's Baby, Guy is the character that brings out the most empathy but also the most fear out of all the characters.

Guy in Rosemary’s Baby is the character that most people can feel empathy for because he puts himself above other characters. Most people that have wealth, fame and power have caused others to fail or thrown someone under the bus to gain the status they have today. That is the reason why we can feel empathy for him because he is only trying to make it in the world but he gets heavily sidetracked throughout Rosemary’s Baby. Furthermore, it is in human nature to put oneself above others because nobody wants to be at the bottom of the food chain in the world we live in and everyone wants to be number one despite how you have to achieve that goal or dream. Despite most people's hatred towards this character it is self righteous to say that you wouldn't do something that helps you excel knowing it would hold others behind. There is also an argument that you could say he was manipulated by the Cassavetes to do their bidding for them, realistically speaking what other choice did he have because they could've killed him, tortured him or worse to get what they wanted out of him. Guy basically caused the whole story to happen. He threw Rosemary under the bus and blinded Donald just to get closer to his goal. Secondly, he is deceitful and manipulative throughout Rosemary’s Baby. He consistently manipulates Rosemary for instance, when he kept telling her that the Cassavetes were normal and they just were just friendly neighbors. He also put her needs under his needs repetitively. Then, when she was talking about a new apartment he was too focused on a pimple to care because he was afraid it would affect his acting
