Six years prior to the case, Daniel Connaughton ran for Municipal Judge of Hamilton, Ohio, losing to the incumbent James Dolan. Connaughton was ultimately unsuccessful, losing to Dolan, who was supported by JournalNews, a local Ohio paper. It later was revealed that prior to the election, a member of Dolan’s staff resigned his position and was charged with perjury, by a jury.

Comcast’s sneaky fees and how it’s unethical While reading about Comcast inserting “sneaky fees” as the author Karl Bode put it. I realize that it does link to a practice that internet providers, which Comcast also is, used to and still currently use to this day. I absolutely agree with Karl Bode that this is an unethical business practice. This article is called “Comcast Claims Sneaky Fees Are its Way of Being 'Transparent” by the already mentioned Karl Bode. While I do understand that businesses must raise prices sometimes, I believe that this crosses that moral line.
Verizon’s mission statement states that it will be ethical by maintained excellence in the products it delivers. It says they will maintain a reliable network with the latest technology. Verizon’s mission statement says the they will continue to make a digital world and innovative lifestyles possible. Verizon's consumer perception has fallen because of some of their unionized workers are on strike. The strike is primarily from their landline and FiOS fiber network, but it is also affecting their wireless network as well.
Companies define their identities as an organization through their mission statements. These statements are meant to be indicative of the way the organization works internally and represents itself to those outside of the organization. A good mission statement, such as REI’s, informs potential customers, that their brand is of these highest quality and the service behind the brand is just as good. However, someone organization deviate from who they say they are and what they are about, which causes distrust in the organizations brands or services with consumers, such as Comcast.
By using the competing values framework as a point of reference, it seems that Verizon’s current organizational culture is a clan culture, the reason being is Verizon invested all the time and all the resources to help educate the workforce (Kinicki & Williams, 2013). See the competing value clan culture is “an internal focus and values flexibility rather than stability and control, such as cohesion, participation, and empowering people” (Kinicki & Williams, 2013, slide 22). Comcast is a multi-billion company its organization structure is divided into 4 divisions: Corporate Executives, Cable Executives, NBC Universal Executives and Board of Directors. According to my opinion its good decision by the management to divide the company in to different sections or categories. Since this allows the Comcast to be more decentralized and ensures that all division are controlled and coordinated efficiently. This benefits the employees since they can be empowered by having more autonomy to make their own decisions, giving them a sense of importance and making them feel their decision making is vital for the organization. Moreover, decentralized organization is able to make decisions more quickly.
