Have you ever had a foreigner try to explain something to you? Maybe he first talked to see if you knew his language, then he had his arms up in the air as he frantically tried to redeem himself. Well, that was how I was when I first came to this country. Of course, hardship was a big part of the lifestyle I led as I settled in America. However, I am actually really grateful for those hard times because they transformed me into who I am today. Rooting it back to the parents that raised me; it was during those times that I not only became much more stronger, but I also grew out to be more accomplished as well. For boys, your father was someone you could look up to. However, as my father left me, that role model was gone. Having nothing to stay positive for; days kept getting more strenuous as keeping up with the challenges I faced became more onerous than ever. Although I was really pushed back from all the pain that day caused me; today I can look back at it as an experience that made me the impregnable person I am now. However, since I did not look so “impregnable” back then, my mom decided to take me to one of the top universities in the country to encourage me to find a role model within myself. With the personal problems I already had going on in my life, I was in no mood to tour a college. However, when I arrived there, everything changed. As I observed students with disadvantaged backgrounds that differed from one another, I saw how they got here despite the struggles they went through. I wondered why, what did they have that I did not? Then it hit me; I never had a goal that I set for myself. I can never be like those students because I never had something to seek out. All I have ever been doing was focusing on my own personal problems that I never even gave consideration to how my future
