Everyday, athletes are watched from fans all over the world. Every year they are paid millions of dollars to make a basket or swing a bat. The average NBA player gets paid $5.15 million dollars a year, not including bonuses, contracts, or being Nike's new store face. These athletes are getting paid more than surgeons, and because of this, some think that athletes are overpaid, but athletes are not overpaid. They are not overpaid because it takes hard work and dedication, athletes are american role models, and they are the only ones who can do what they do.
First reason to why athletes do not get overpaid is because what they do takes hard work. Professional athletes train and practice almost every day for countless hours. These athletes miss out on family and friends to train so they can play to the best of their abilities. …show more content…

Lots of kids, when they are younger, only dream about becoming a sport star. They look up to the best football, basketball, and baseball stars and want to be just like them. They want to turn something they love doing into something more, and make it a career. Who can blame them? The life of an all star sport player sounds great. They get to do what they love, get to see your name on the back of everyone's jerseys, and get to be the idle of a kid who was just like you when you were their age. Aaron Aurbach suggests, “ Many athletes have has to overcome serious adversity to succeed, and kids going through similar struggles can relate,” (par. 3). Let’s say a child tried out for a sport team. All their friends make, but them. This is something every pro has gone through at some point of their life. In this case, the athletes stories can be a real help and inspiration to those younger than them who are going through the same struggle the professional athlete went through when they were younger. The athletes inspire and encourage the new age of young athletes to keep trying and work their
