There are many people who may agree with this argument but there are also a lot of people who believe it is a bad idea or just don’t want to. Some sports economists were asked if college athletes should be paid, to them they thought it was a pretty obvious answer and not a difficult question (NCAA…). It is not that hard of a question, anyone could answer it because everyone knows the colleges have money and the sports bring in even more money from the events. Even professors decided to get together to talk about this issue and some of them agree that men’s football and basketball players should get paid (NCAA…). There are also former players like Ed O’Bannon and Shane Battier that would like to see the players now, get paid (NCAA..). Another person who agrees with this is David Carter, he believes the athlete’s should get paid but he is not to sure how it would affect the sport itself (NCAA…). They are all young and many of them probably do not know how to handle money very well. If these college athletes get paid now then they will become more responsible and learn how to manage their money (Patterson). A lot of the professional athletes go bankrupt after they retire and it does not take them long to go bankrupt. The reason why is because they simply do not know how to manage their money. Paying the college athletes will let them understand how to use their money at a young age so if they go professional and retire, they will have less of a chance to go
