College sports is a huge industry and makes hundreds of millions of dollars a year. The revenue is insane and the people bringing in all the money aren't even being payed. The athletes performing is what is bringing in all of the money, some say that the scholarship that most of the best players in the country have is good compensation but others think not. I believe college athletes should be paid because of all the time and effort the athletes put in. As a whole the sport still brings in loads of money way more than lacrosse or rugby. Another reason college athletes should not be paid is because there is no efficient and fair way to do it. Say baseball does not bring in as much revenue as basketball then why does baseball deserve to be paid as much as the basketball players. Do they deserve to be paid as much if they are putting in the same amount of work? How would we track how much work they are actually doing? What is to prevent students from saying they worked for 5 hours when they really only worked for three? Nothing in my opinion. If this were done it would ruin the integrity of the sports. Paying college athletes would ruin the integrity of the game. Just as it has done in professional sports. In the NBA Lebron James is known as a “cry baby” because of the fact that if a referee does something wrong or misses a call he whines to the ref to try to make it go his way. I think all this does for the game besides ruin is make it less enjoyable. Instead of seeing the action at the other end of the floor you see one of the world's most renowned athletes whining to the official about a silly call that more than likely doesn't matter. (Steven A. Smith). In college sports you don’t see this because they do not feel as entitled as the athletes in professional sports. This is because they are not being
