Getting a scholarship is a thing that every athlete wishes for. But what if instead of a scholarship you got a salary? You would think that would be a good thing,right? Well if you look at the facts this form of payment will leave the athlete with very little money. If the athletes are paid as employees state and federal taxes will take most of the money away from them. College athletes shouldn’t be paid. Colleges athletes shouldn’t be paid because of various reasons. The athletes will be left with very little money. Plus,the main reason they are there is to learn and get a degree,the athletic side is just a bonus. Once they’re in college you should focus on the education side of things because they can’t play sports forever. The degree will help them in their regular life. Some college athletic programs will not generate that much money causing their athletes to not earn that much money. They say that the athletes work to hard not to be paid a salary. They wanted to be in athletics they knew there was going to be a lot of work. Plus if they are paid a salary all of that hard work will go down the drain because taxes will take over and will leave them with very little. NCAA also voted to let colleges began compensating for athletes. They had the chance to get educated and get a degree,that should be enough payment for them. College athletes shouldn’t be paid for what they do. They are at college for an education and the athletic side is just a bonus. Plus,after taxes they won’t have that much money to spend.College athletes shouldn’t focus on being paid and focus more on getting their education.
