At the moment college athletes do not get paid, many agree with this and many do not. According to Finance Zacks, in 2011 the NCAA reported $871.6 million in revenue . Not a single cent from that money went to a player, isn't that crazy? According to Finance Zacks, also in 2011 the University of Texas football team generated more than $95 million and again not a single cent went to a player. You mean to tell me that a college cant even pay player $10,000 for a season worth of play, which is just a very small fraction of what the school earns. I think that College athletes should get paid if the sport that they play makes the school at least fifty thousand dollars because the athletes need to pay off loans if they have to and they have to buy books for school, they also put their bodies on the line every game they play, the athletes are the main reason that the school even makes money, and good players would want to stay at the school longer and this will make the athletes more successful as they'll get used to the business side of sports. In the NFL it could be the difference between a second or third round pick and a first round pick. This is a big deal because the contract difference is huge from a top 10 pick in the NBA to a top 5 pick, you could from getting $12 Million in four year to getting $23 Million in four years.That is almost double the amount of money. In the NFL its an even greater difference, you could go from a $6 Million contract to a $25 Million contract, which is triple the amount of money.
