One day there was a college athlete who was assigned a research paper. That night he started the paper, but soon realized that it's much harder than he anticipated. Having a build in trust with other students is a great way to have Honor Codes. Honor Codes give students the opportunity to come together and build teamwork. Although having group project have one person doing the work, from Honor Codes students are able to come together and work as a team. Unlike the majority of colleges where proctoring of tests and exams is the responsibility of the faculty and/or administration, many schools with academic honor codes allow students to take their exams without proctors present, relying on peer monitoring to control cheating (McCabe, Pavela). Having the opportunity to work with other people and build teamwork is another way to have Honor Codes. Having Honor Codes people are able to play by the same rules. We put the Honor Code and Honor Concept to use early in the first year by taking time out of the freshman design class as soon as the students are beginning to experience academic pressure( Sawvel).
