During the 1800s the country was torn into two over whether to allow slavery to be legal or not and the North wanted to keep the country as one that did not allow slavery. So Finally, In the year 1860 the Civil war between the North and the South broke out. the civil war first broke out when the Confederate South attacked the North at Fort Sumter. Then in 1865 the confederate south finally had no choice but to surrender to the North ending the Civil War with the North on top. However, the Civil war was not an easy battle to win for the north, and many causalities occurred. The North had strong leaders such as Lincoln and Jefferson to guide them through the war and keeping the government going. Lincoln and Jefferson were able to provide the North with better military leaders such as Sherman and Grant. These men were more determined than the south and did not need to seek help from outside countries. The North did also not need outside help become they had become more industrialized than the south and because of the industrial revolution. More than half of the Railroads were in the North which allowed for easy travel. The railroads allowed for the north to easily transport soldiers, food, and weapons to the south. This made the North more prepared than the South. Not only was the south able transport items quickly they were able to produce the necessary items quickly. The north was filled with many factories and industries that hired cheap labor whether it was females or immigrants. The north also used mass productions to put out weapons, ammunition, and clothing for the war.
