Other healthcare organizations can use Sharp HealthCare’s approach to motivation to help with employee motivational problems, however, there are some important barriers and facilitators to using the Sharp approach. As mentioned by Burns, Bradley, & Weiner (2011, p. 107), “a major problem for all healthcare organizations is to avoid employee motivation problems and to remedy such problems if they occur.” It is no easy task to keep all employees within an organization happy all of the time, but it is an important role for healthcare leaders to ensure that they try to keep as many employees satisfied as possible. The major barrier that an organization can have when using the Sharp approach is that it is not guaranteed to work for all organizations. “Though there are many approaches to dealing with motivational problems among employees, none are foolproof” (Burns, Bradley, & Weiner, 2011, p. 112). Adversely, organizational size can hinder an organization from using the Sharp approach because of limited resources. However, it is possible that smaller organizations can incorporate some of the key factors of Sharp’s approach into their organization to initiate some improvement in employee motivation.
