Do we, as a society text too much? In my opinion I think as a society we do text too much. When texting too much it can have some disadvantages like running into people, or sleeping problems. People make commercials and websites about texting and driving. In some surveys it shows that teenagers get in more car accidents than a adult. It's so bad that a woman died because she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings. I think that when the teenagers go to their drivers test they should have an extra class on the dangers of texting and driving.
According to CNN in the article "We never talk any more: The problem with text messaging" "The number of text messages sent monthly in the U.S. exploded from 14 billion in 2000 to 188 billion in 2010, according to a Pew Institute survey." That means that the majority of our population spend their time on a phone. Since the majority of our population has a phone and some type of social media it can result into someone getting bullied. When teachers turn their backs for a slight second kids pull out their phone and start texting. From experience I see kids hide their phone in the most bizarre places like their pants, and hoodie pocket, run-on I even saw a kid hide their phone in their sock! When having a cell phone in class it's a resource for cheating. In all honesty I think it's partially the parents fault for not not trying to make the kid go outside for a couple of minutes or putting a time restriction the the phone so they could hang out with friends or family. In the end it's really the persons fault for paying more attention to the phone than anything else and that's how people end up getting hurt. But I would just like to say put down the phone and spend some time with your family and friends. Who knows you might not be able to spend time with them ever
