GHP is an experience I have always wanted to participate in. To be nominated in not one but two areas is such an honor. But of course, I had to choose the subject to which my heart belongs, art. To me, art is nearly everything. Art is creativity. Art is letting go of fears of judgement. Art is complete self expression and my voice in the world. I am able to create stories, emotions, and even a whole world within my artwork, and call it all mine.
I started taking art seriously about 3 years ago. Now to many, that may seem “inexperienced” but I assure you that is not the case. I am not one to do anything half heartedly. I have made art a top priority and work endlessly to always improve. People are often surprised to hear that I have been only drawing for such a short time because I illustrate with very high technical skill. I am a firm believer in that you will never reach a point in your life in which learning is not necessary. Michelangelo at the age of 87 said “I am still learning”. This simple yet profound sentence perfectly describes my passion for learning because I can see myself saying the exact same thing when I’m 87. The road to knowledge is endless and I am determined to travel as far down it as I possibly can. I believe GHP can help me with that. If I were selected, I would look forward to gaining more insight about the art field. I’m really excited by the possibility of learning new techniques, mediums, and ideas from a variety of talented people. Also just simply being surrounded by people who are just as passionate about art as me sounds like a dream. Being self aware is very important to me, so I actually look forward to being critiqued.
