Growing up with religious Coptic Orthodox parents have left some lasting effects on how I see the world now. I have always been taught that God comes first, family second, and everything else third. Ever since I was a little girl, my parents always dreamed of me going to a Catholic school. I, along with my parents, have always enjoyed the idea of praying and talking about God without hesitation. The University of St. Thomas would be a great place for me to grow spiritually in my faith and to achieve more than my family and friends imagined I could do. I would like to attend the University of St. Thomas for many reasons. One of the most obvious reasons is the combination of great academics and strong religious foundation into one cohesive experience. When I was in middle school, I attended a private, Catholic school. Although we had a rigorous curriculum, it always challenged me to go above and beyond my normal expectations. Along with the high expectancy, St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School had a caring community that has allowed me to feel at home. I aspire to achieve this feeling again by attending St. Thomas. Since I was young, I have always been interested in the field of medicine. The ability to help others directly and to make them smile is something that can never be replaced. Due to my previous history with church and community service, I am experienced and able to become involved in community services throughout campus. Some of which include helping with Bible studies, serving people in relation to their physical needs, serving people in relation to their spiritual needs, etc. I hope to also participate in the Research Symposium. By engaging in the Research Symposium, I would be able to evaluate which areas of science I am truly drawn to. Another possibility is to contribute as a working student.
