Writing Sample Thirteen years ago I joined the Army hoping my decision to become and Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) was the right one. A year later and many successful challenges accomplished I found that I had made the right decision. I realized that health care is a rewarding and innovative pursuit; also, the accomplishment of completing the LVN course sparked my interest in continuing and growing my career in Healthcare. One of my goals to become a better health care professional is to achieve a Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree. The rest of my time will be spent explaining why this is so important to me. The following areas will provide the outline to why I want to achieve an MHA, Found Joy in Health care and Making a Difference.
Found Joy in Healthcare As mentioned above, I found a passion for working in health care. After completing nursing school I continued to take classes specific to nursing that improved my skill set. In taken these courses through the Army I build a strong desire to continue to serve in Army Medicine. Moreover I strengthened my desire to continue a career in health care. Consequently I turned my attention and passion to the administrative side of the health industry. I began taking on administrative roles in the Army Reserves, like working in the Patient Administration Section. I also started administrative work on the civilian side as well. I learned that using knowledge of care delivery provided insight for behind the scenes improvements, and I didn’t need to provide patient services to make a
