Edgar Allan Poe; A Dark and Mysterious Man
“The boundaries which divide Life and Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins,” said the famous author Edgar Allan Poe. This quote describes that there is a barely anything that separates life and death. It dares to ask what is this thing that gets to decide when we come into this world and when we leave. After taking a look at the life and work of Edgar Allan Poe, it is apparent that he deserves recognition as a profound American author. Edgar Allan Poe had a rough life from the start. Poe was born on January 19, 1809 to two professional actors. Sadly, both of his parents died before he reached the age of three. Soon after, John Allan became Poe's foster parent. Although he never officially adopted John Allan made Poe feel like a part of the family. They even renamed him from Edgar Poe to Edgar Allan Poe. By the time he was twenty-six, Poe was getting married to one of his cousins, thirteen year old Virginia Clemm. One thing that had a big impact was that in college he was forced to leave because of a gambling debt. This was just the start of his problems. The women who raised him, the only mother he ever was able to remember died. He joined the army and later joined the United States Military. Once again though he had to leave because of the the lack of financial support. This was all leading him deeper into depression and alcoholism. This lead him to write some great pieces of works and leaving people on the edge of their seats trying to find out what's going to happen
