Romeo and Juliet is a play about star-crossed lovers. Romeo is apart of a high class Montague family; their rival is the Capulet family. Romeo falls in love with the daughter of Lord Capulet. They want to get married but they know that this will not be approved between their family feud. This is why they secretly ask Friar Laurence to marry them in secret.

For example, Friar Laurence in Act 5, scene 3 lines 267-268 here is how: Friar Laurence states “Miscarried by my fault, let my old life/ Be sacrificed, some hour before his time,” meaning that he knows he made some bad decisions and that he is at fault. Friar Laurence is a wise man who understands and knows how to use the things around him in a way to get the things he wants. One of which is to end the feud between the Montagues and Capulets once and for all, so they will never fight each other ever again and end lives that were lost only because of this feud. Of course solving such a feud is not easy, but luckily for him Romeo and Juliet practically served him the solution on a silver platter. The solution was to marry the two, not that this was Romeo’s and Juliet’s intention as they wanted to get married due to love while Friar thought of this marriage differently. Friar Lawrence told Romeo that he could make everyone forgive him. Ascend her chamber, hence, and comfort her. But look thou stay not till the watch be set, For then thou canst not pass to Mantua, Where thou shalt live, till we can find a time To blaze your marriage, reconcile your friends, Beg pardon of the prince” (487-438) this shows that he was giving romeo false hope by telling there is a chance to make things right when there was no hope he could have told him that juliet would want him to move on but he gave romeo false hope for juliet of will to slay thyself, Then is it likely thou wilt undertake A thing like death to chide away this shame, That cop'st with death himself to scape from it; And if thou darest, I'll give thee remedy” (453) this proves that friar lawrence gave juliet bad advice because instead of giving her a reasonable way out he told her to fake her death which would mean that she would be poor with romeo and romeo and juliet
