Would you want the already sky-high movie ticket prices to be raised just so you can bring your favorite snack into the theater? Is it okay to make it impossible for others to enjoy the movie so just because you can’t wait until after a movie to eat lunch or eat before you go? Or is it your favorite food worth more than the livelihood of theater workers? Many people have many different answers to this question. Many people think that snacks sold at movie theaters are too expensive, but it’s against the rules to bring you own. Because of this, some people think that it’s okay bring snacks into theaters to save money and time in the long snack lines. But others decide to follow the rules and not bring their own snacks, even if this does mean they will have to spend even more money if they want to get something to eat. According to page 17, in the article “Is It OK to Sneak Food Into the Movies?” it explains that most of the money from tickets sales goes to the studios that made the movies and the profit the theaters get back from ticket sales is not enough to pay employees and keep the theater open. The way that theaters make the needed money is the snack stand. If the money needed can’t be made through the snack stand can’t be made ticket prices will be raised. Bringing in outside food would directly cause theaters to not be able to make the necessary money. Then ticket prices would be raised to make up for lost money. If ticket prices are raised it is highly likely that far fewer people will go to this theater which will mess with the salaries and employment of employees and whether or not owners are able to keep their business going.
