This quote describes William Shakesphere – A name that almost every American high-schooler knows. An actor, a writer, and a poet, Shakesphere is known as an English legend. However, with his writings being written in the 1600s, some people question if his works are still relevent to our day today. The popularity of Shakesphere in today’s schools is still at an all time high. Plays like “Romeo and Juliet” are still very popular as teachers find his works excelent and his contributions to the English language significant. UTSA’s eminent literary scholar, Mark Bayer, says: “The language is so dense, so rich, the first couple plays they read are difficult….. Looking back in the past fifty years, there are many movie adaptions of his play. Be it a movie that is purly based on Shakesphere’s original script like the Romeo and Juleit 2014 film, or a movie that is more losely based and uses the theme of two’s love getting objected against like Make Your Move. Adding on to movies, his famous plays has not only influnced movies, but also music. Songs like Love Story by Taylor Swift, touches on the topic of love and frequently refrences Romeo and Juliet’s love and name.
