The issue of whether teenagers should have curfews or that teenagers should not have curfews has been debated on for years. Many people believe that teenagers should have curfews due to teenagers being obnoxious. However, others believe that teenagers should not have curfews due to teenagers being responsible. Although some people believe that curfews keep teenagers out of trouble, curfews unfairly interfere on the lives of young and independent teenagers, because teenagers would miss out on once in a lifetime opportunities, teenagers would not have time to participate in extracurricular activities, and curfews would make teenagers act irresponsible and reckless. For instance, if a teenager had to be home at nine o'clock and one's friend asked he or she to go to a concert at 10 o'clock, then they would not be able to attend that concert one had ever got to experience before. Furthermore, if a teenager was asked to spend the night at one's friend's house and had a curfew, then he or she would like a terrible friend for not attending. That teenagers would miss out on once on a lifetime opportunities is one reason, but there are still more. A more important reason is that teenagers would not have time to participate in extracurricular activities. This is because many teenagers play sports and some games last till very late at night. For instance, if a teenager was a member of the basketball team and had a tournament and proceeded to the championship game and it was at 11 o'clock, then he or she would not be able to attend if they have a curfew earlier than 11 o'clock. Furthermore, if a teenager was a member of the track and field team and one had a final race to go to state at one o'clock in the morning, then he or she would miss their race limiting them to experience new things such as going to state in a running event.
