Why the LIV Golf Tour is bad for sports

Choosing to watch the LIV Golf Tour is a bad choice because, “In its simplest form many believe LIV Golf to be sportswashing to cover up Saudi Arabia’s appalling human rights record” (Townsend 1). The LIV Golf Tour which originated last year has only drawn an average of 300,000 views while the PGA Tour has an average of drawing in almost 1 million people per tournament.

These players should get a second chance on whether or not they want to come back. This is bad for the players because they worked hard just for some money crazing Saudi’s to take it away. An example of this would be the PGA Tour players who went to the LIV Tour got stripped of the PGA Tour cards. “The PGA Tour has adjusted its FedEx Cup standings and removed players who are suspended due to their affiliation with LIV Golf” (Harig 1). This means that just because of the LIV Tour signing these players, they can’t compete in the PGA Tour circuit anymore besides the 4 majors. Another reason I believe the LIV Golf Tour is bad is because of the league’s format. LIV Golf consists of a 3 day, 54 hole tournament with shotgun starts. Shotgun starts are when all the players tee off at the same time unlike the PGA Tour. This format is bad because all the players shouldn’t all be out on the course at the same time. The tour should consist of several different tee times, not just one for all the players. Changing to this would reduce injuries and give the players more time to warm up and stretch out. Finally, I still believe the tour is bad because of this reason. The tour should not force players to play all at
