One can suppose that William Heard Kilpatrick, was a philosopher amazing for seeing how students learn in a schoolroom context. William Heard Kilpatrick, a progressive educational philosopher, who was born in White Plains, Georgia and a Baptist minister’s son (Education State). Also, Kilpatrick was known for bringing progressive education to light in the United States, for Kilpatrick created the project method, which focus on a child’s interests and readiness. School age children are arguably one of the more difficult age group to write a curriculum for because the fact that children at this age have their own interests and opinions on what they will be studying. Kilpatrick’s project method explains how students learn through a process of working on projects that work towards a common goal (Sutinen, 1042). Based on this statement, it goes over the basis of the project method, which Kilpatrick further goes into the depth of explaining how children learn concepts through the process of learning by working with a common goal in mind. In addition, the project method focuses on a child’s individual process of learning and how teachers need to incorporate students’ interests into what is being taught in the classroom. Additionally, based on Kilpatrick’s research of how students learn, children learn things by they themselves physically doing it and not just by reading it from some textbook. The curriculum that the teachers are teaching the students should make the pupil’s tie their learning from the classroom to their home life.
