World War 1 U.S.Technology vs German Technology

During World War 1, between the years of 1917-1919 both the United States and Germany made a big advancement in technology and invented weapons that were designed to help them during battle. New weapons such as machine guns, airplanes, and tanks were all used on both sides of the war and to assist them to conquer more land.
During the War the United States used guns such as the machine gun, that were usually powered by 4-6 men. The machine gun could be found mounted on a flat tripod. The gun can fire up to 400 to 600 small-calibre rounds per minute which was fed by a fabric belt or a metal strip. The United States machine guns were a downfall because of it’s weight. It weighed nearly up to 140 lbs. The gun was powered by a four man crew and another issue for the machine gun was that it overheated often even with water poured on the barrel of the gun to cool it down. For the German machine gun, the downfall for them was that there weapon overheated rapidly causing it to be unoperative constantly. Even though it was overheated they would use a cool mechanism in order for it to be operative once more. The United States Aeromarine 39 was a very difficult due to the military finding a mounting location to put the plane. Placing the machine gun was even difficult to put because of the fact the pilot didn’t want to shoot at the propeller. The Albatros D.V. bad side about the plan was that the plane endurace was only 2 hours and it’s maximum speed was 116 mph. The plane was only designed for one person to fly, compared to the United States. For the United States Ford Model 1918-3 ton tank, the United States asked for 150,000 tanks and threw out the war. However, Ford was only able to make 15 tanks and shipped it to the U.S. soldiers overseas. Sadly though, only 2 tanks made it to France and due to the limited testing they were at no use during war.
