I have had the pleasure of knowing Gurleen Sahansra since she began at Forest Hills High School at the beginning of her sophomore year. Being a new student can be a difficult adjustment for some students, but Gurleen never faltered in her academics. Her organizational skills, persistence in times of struggle, and intelligence were only some of her wonderful attributes that helped her along the way. Those same attributes were also helpful in her selection to be a member of our Health Professions program and National Honor Society chapter. Gurleen is a sweet and quiet young lady with a wonderful sense of self and maturity.
Being very fortunate to work as a physician for 16 years, I had a dream of exceling my medical education in United States. As a first step, I took USMLE step one and two one after another and luckily was able to pass both exams on first attempt. In United States, I volunteered in University of California Irvine Medical center for more than 3 years, also took the USMLE step 3, which I passed as well. My residency application did not get me any chance and I forcefully decided to commute back and force to be a physician in Iran for almost half of the year and be a father and husband for the other half. Gradually, the days I was fortunate to help many of my patients under the supervision of my mentor and roll model, Dr. Amir Bahrami (Who I think
The poem “ Feliks Skrzynecki” communicates to the responders that as a result of the Skrzynecki family migrating to Australia, Peter had lost a significant aspect of his life which was his relationship with his father due to the barriers that had arisen restricting them from proper communication. This is reinforced in the poem, in the quote “ Loved his garden like an only child,”. Through the application of this technique in the first stanza, it establishes the connection made amongst the father and his beloved garden. This suggests that the garden is the only mean in which he could recreate his lifestyle from Poland, therefore, loving the garden like an only child he felt comfort and a sense of belonging whilst in it. Another technique Skrzynecki
In school students do not care about writing as much as they used to. If they would work harder in school, their grades would be higher and more colleges would want them. In Esther Cepeda 's research, she managed to prove that students test scores are going down. That is because they do not work as hard as they used to.
In 1876, Emily Howard Stowe presented the idea of creating a literacy group which was actually a woman's suffrage group that she was hiding from their husbands. Emily decided to make this suffrage group after going to study medicine; and finding out that woman were not given that option in Canada, she then went to New York and got her degree; proving to Canadians that she was more then capable of doing a “mans job.” This was when Emily Howard Stowe really started fighting for woman's rights and what she believed in. Emily Howard Stowe also helped the woman of Canada be treated with equal rights, and she showed woman that its okay to have an opinion, and have the same rights as men. Based on the impact Emily Howard Stowe had,
As a country that was built by immigrants from around the world, America is a melting pot of abundant cultures and languages. However, it seems as though “proper English” is the only appropriate dialect considered to be civilized, neglecting the presence of other native tongues. Amy Tan describes life with her Chinese, immigrant mother who tries adapting to life in America. Tan uses the rhetorical methods of ethos, pathos, and logos to convey a different perspective on accepting the various types of English and how her mother should not be isolated from society while coping with learning a new language.
Within the context of academic writing, she is only beginning to add sophistication (i.e. longer noun groups), write cohesively (i.e. linking words, transitional words) and vary her sentence structure (sentence
Zitkala-Sa: An analysis In the early 1900s, Native Americans went through a period of assimilation; That is, they were forced into adapting to American culture and customs. There were many methods to achieve this assimilation, including putting Native American children in US schools to teach them American ideals and values and to really Americanize them. One of these children was Zitkala-Sa, who was a Native American child that went through a US boarding school, where she did her best to resist the American assimilation and subsequent eradication of her culture.
The Moment “The Moment” is by Zosia Krolewski chronicles a young girl’s challenges experienced after moving to a country and culture foreign to her. In “The Moment,” the writer uses similes, idioms, and personification to portray that although it may be hard people always move forward, and once progress is made to move backwards is not an option. The simile is used to show that no matter what people continue to move forward. The author writes about her experiences with life.
The other students look up to her and follow her lead; it is safe to say that she provides a first-rate example of how a focus on scholarship and the determination to succeed can impact and entire classroom. One thing that has always stood out about Rebekah is her ability to manage her busy schedule consisting of extra-curricular obligations and the rigorous assignments that are required in an AP English classroom. On more than one occasion she has stopped by my classroom to discuss one or two missed questions on a test in order to improve her performance on subsequent assessments. She takes the initiative to learn on her own — when necessary — and always asks questions in order to gain additional knowledge about a concept.

He began study at Tel Avic University and quickly fell in love with psychology. He had learned a lot in the class on the physiology of the brain which taught by professor Hana Frenk. This professor lost his legs in an accident and he turned his interest in pain to a professional interest. Through Frenk, Ariely not only learned how to make your interest in life turn to your professional interest but also learned a lot about psychological experiments. More than that, the most impressed Ariely in the class of Frenk is the attitude of the professor to the questions and theories of him.
As an immigrant, I came to the United States looking for an opportunity to reach my goal and my dream of becoming a pharmacist. When I finished high school in Alexandria, Egypt with high grades, my parents decided to move to the United States because of the dangerous political situation that was taking place in Egypt. We moved to New York, where I started searching for colleges and asked my friends about good pharmacy school here. I was thankful when I found out that I could get into LIU’s pre-pharmacy program. I’m still working on my language skills and trying to improve, but at the same time I’m doing what I love to do and what I do best, which is studying and understanding the sciences.
Overall, there are some interesting aspects to Dr. Zinc's performances, and I'm sure our students could learn something from it. However, I strongly recommend against inviting this character into our school, his behaviour was eccentric and overdramatic, his appearance was repelling and he had absolutely no evidence to back up his work, making him a completely incompetent role model for our
