1st Microbiology lab 2014 Hypothesis Most of the life on the planet is probably composed of bacteria. Bacteria are simply creatures, very finely which cannot be seen with the naked eye but only by using microscope. They can live 5 meter below ground, in all waters and in the body of organisms. They are unicellular so they don’t include any of: mitochondria, chloroplast, endoplasmic reticulum, etc. The bacterial genetic material consists of a single circular DNA molecule. A small amount of genetic information may be present as smaller DNA circles, called plasmids, which replicate independently of the main DNA. Bacteria by form are separated in three forms: Cocci (round), Bacilli (rod shaped) and Spirilla (spiral). According to their appearance, they are smooth and frequently shiny but they can also be dull, roughed or wrinkled. Furthermore, we can distinguish in a plate the forms, size or the structure of bacteria. Materials …show more content…
We had in our tables some materials needed for this experiment that were: 4 petri dishes, cotton swabs, sterile water, spreader, alcohol lamps and marker for labeling the plates. Materials were used to examine the appearance, structure and the growth of bacteria in four different environments based on the instructions. Methods After the separation of students into the groups we have waited for approximately 2 days to let bacteria grow and than noticed the structure and appearance of bacteria with microscope. In this case, we used to collect all information and results for each plate of bacteria in its environment from other groups also. Results A) Environmental
