The country of India is a vast South Asian country with extremely diverse terrain that ranges from the Himalayan peaks to the Indian Ocean. To the North, Mughal Empire landmarks include Delhi’s Red Fort Complex, Jama Masjid mosque and the iconic Taj Mahal mausoleum. The Country of India, is an up and coming powerhouse of the world. Boasting one of the fastest growing economies, India will be in the top 10 in GDP by 2050. Consequently it’s ever growing population and economy will enable the country to thrive for years to come. India measures about 3.3 million square Kilometers and it extends from the Himalayas in the north and tropical forest to its south. India is bordered by seven different countries, to the northwest are Afghanistan and Pakistan; to the north are China, Bhutan, and Nepal; and to the east are Burma (also known as Myanmar) and Bangladesh. The plains of the Ganges and the Indus, about 2,400 kilometers (1500 miles) long and on average about 280 kilometers (175 miles) wide, are formed by the basins of 3 river systems of the Indus, the Ganges and the Brahmaputra Rivers. These fertile basins are among the most densely populated areas in the world. India is composed of 25 states and 7 union territories.
