Growing up as a first-generation American I am blessed to have many opportunities because of my parents’ sacrifice. Ghana does not offer quality education for everyone, therefore, I have always wanted to take the luxuries I have in America and bring it to my home country to help it improve. I want Ghana to grow in the ranks and become a fully developed nation, strong enough to compete on the level of the United States, Japan and the United Kingdom. Ghana needs young people who have endless opportunities for an education to learn and come back to their country to improve areas in technology, education and medicine. I envision myself being a world leader, traveling to many countries to use my education for change. Getting involved in campus organizations would provide me knowledge on how I could use my major of computer science to start technological businesses that will increase jobs in my home country. Not only are the programs in Georgetown fundamental, the location is ideal because of its proximity to where change in the world happens. I enjoy the fact that the atmosphere at Georgetown is very politically-centered and has many clubs dedicated to politics, as well as, study abroad programs where I could learn about political affairs and cultural aspects in different countries. These are the elements that will further enhance my global knowledge to influence change.
