Admissions Essay: If I Want To Join NJHS

Ever since Elementary school, I have always wanted to find ways to help the community. I enjoy doing things that not only help people in our community, but also the environment. For example, I live within walking distance to the dam and sometimes go and pick up trash in and around the Lake. I think that if I join NJHS, I will have a lot more opportunities to do a lot more things like this. If I am accepted into NJHS, I will be able to give to the needy which will strengthen our community and make a bond between all of us and improve the quality of life among everyone in and around Bloomington. I have been an “A” honor roll student since first grade and I’ve played on countless sports teams. Ever since I started school, my parents preached to me the importance of school. So school has always been on top of my priorities. I have, and will always work hard to get the best grades possible to open other opportunities outside school. For example, I won’t have to skip out on any volunteer work because I did not get my school work finished when I was supposed to. Also, I have never had any disciplinary problems and would never do anything to mar the good reputation of any NJHS members, advisers, or the Society itself. I have always loved sports and I have learned a lot about life and teamwork from them. Baseball has taught me the most about life and football has taught me the most about teamwork. Baseball is by far the most mentally taxing sport on the face of the planet, which definitely prepares you for life. One minute, you could be the happiest person alive and the next you feel as if the sun will never shine again. Thanks to this, I have learned not to roll over and quit when the going gets tough. Baseball is also probably the best sport for developing your social skills. The main reason for this is 75% of the time in baseball, you are with your teammates doing absolutely nothing. That gives you a lot of time to develop your social and conversational skills. These important skills help me when working with
