Their only evidence was Jay's testimony against Adnan. Jay also could not keep his story straight. In addition to that, in a murder trial there should not be a reasonable doubt if someone is found guilty. Asia’s letter helped Adnan’s case on where he was and who he was with. When Adnan could not have any visitors, Asia wrote him a letter trying to help his case. In Asia’s letter, it gave Adnan an alibi. In Asia’s letter she stated “On Jan 13th we chatted in the library and went to your family’s house” (Rhoute Talk 5). This implies that Adnan could not have been in two places at once. Asia called the library to see if they had a surveillance system from 1pm-8:45pm. In her letter it says “Woodlawn Public Library found they had a surveillance system inside the building” (Rhoute Talk 5). This means Adnan was in the library with Asia and the surveillance system proves it. Therefore, the surveillance system should always be considered in a trial because it gives them proof. Adnan’s phone records showed nothing to the detectives that proved Adnan's guilt. All of the phone records that they have for Adnan Syed are from Jan 13th
