Aerobic Chapter 7

I found chapter 7 to be the most interesting. I always hear about how exercise and sleep impact the body; however, it was always hard to believe from an outside source. Hearing it from a professor inside of the classroom really changed my view. I want to exercise more and sleep better because of this chapter. Chapter 7 begins by talking about the benefits of exercise. Exercise is defined as physical activity that is planned, repetitive, and purposeful in the sense that it is intended to improve or maintain one or more aspects of physical fitness. Aerobic and anaerobic are two categories of exercise. Aerobic exercise is a moderate intensity workout over a period of time. For example, a person may jog on a treadmill for an hour. Anaerobic is much tougher-for me at least. Anaerobic exercise is a high intensity workout like sprinting. There are many benefits of doing these exercises. Injuries are the fifth-leading cause of death! The way a person is typically injured generally varies by age. The majority of the death-related injuries are accidents, while some are on purpose. External causes of death are more common in young people than chronic causes of death which are much more common in older people. The number one death-causing accident are car crashes. Because adolescents' brains are still developing (lacking thoughtful analysis), it is more likely for an adolescent to get into a car crash than an adult. This is because youth are more prone to speeding, texting and driving, and other forms of distractive driving. Falls are the second leading cause of unintentional deaths. People also intentionally harm themselves. It is much more likely that a male will use a gun to kill himself than a female. Females are more likely to overdose.
